She was elected to two terms as a Delray Beach, Florida, City Commissioner and also served as Vice Mayor. She then was elected and re-elected to the Palm Beach County Commission for the next eighteen years, serving one term as its Chairman. Mary was caught completely off guard when she first discovered she and her husband Kevin were being investigated for Honest Services Fraud by the U.S. Department of Justice in 2008. During those months they experienced an invasive home search and tense meetings with FBI agents, federal prosecutors, and IRS officials. They eventually and reluctantly accepted a plea deal.

Mary was sentenced to 42 months in federal prison and 3 years probation. She took the RDAP program (Residential Drug Abuse Program) and was able to leave 9 months early. Her husband was sentenced to 8 months in federal prison.

During the process, Mary and her husband employed strategies that enabled them to keep their home and credit rating. After returning from prison, they built a business, and with the help of family and friends have successfully re-entered their community. This did not happen without a plan and learning lessons along the way. These lessons will be shared so that you can make the most out of this life-altering period.

“I have known Mary for over twenty years and can assure you she is focused, knowledgeable, and hard working. More than that, you can count on Mary to be empathetic and caring. I admire Mary professionally and value her as a dear, loyal friend.” - Former Representative Mike Abrams, Florida House of Representatives 1983-1994
